I just went back and read the old articles on this from the oregon papers and they felt that the cleaner was going to fix it all but it's gone on this long so I just got a feeling that it's going to get ugly. Remember how long it took the ncaa-ss to get the usc deal finalized? Kelly leave. All those texas guys leave the program. Bye bye
Keep your fingers crossed buddy!!
What Texas guys left btw? I still see Huff, Addison, Allen, Amoako - A, Amoako - B.
At this point I don't even care anymore> I would rather beat the zeros on the field before they get hammered if they do.
Arrive Early, leave late, be LOUD and WEAR PURPLE

Bowl bans and scholarship losses can definitely hurt a program, it takes a good four years to completely recover, but I agree with Dawgweed on this one -- Washington can start bragging again once they get them on the field and not a minute before.
The only time people dislike gossip is when you gossip about them--Will Rogers
I believe he/she was referring to Lache Seastrunk, Dontae Williams, Tra Carson, and Anthony Wallace.
Why am I defending a leg lifter on their board against a fellow duck? I have no idea.

My sources close to this situation tells me Oregon isn't overly concerned any longer. While what happened doesn't look good on the surface, Oregon didn't really violate any major rules.
Anyways for the sake of arguing, just relaying my intel (which is pretty good) indicates maybe a few schollie losses and loss of a few official visits type punishment is what Oregon will get. Maybe some probation. Bowl bans, etc. not likely.
I guess I would add, it doesn't help the conference to have schools on bowl bans, etc. I wasn't happy with the level of punishment USC got from my personal standpoint. It's great to see Stanford on the rise and hopefully UW can move the needle. Rivalries are great, it's fun (IMO) but the big picture is everyone needs everyone to be highly competitive (except on gamedays with each other). LOL

The early 90s were very painful for Husky fans -- the bowl and TV bans sucked.
I bet Mark Emmert is gone before any "Hammer" ever comes down on Oregon... Huskies have to hang there hat on some other hope of ever beating the Ducks again.
It doesn't matter who the president of the NCAA is. But I heard a whopper of a rumor over the weekend about this whole situation.
im just glad the idiot coaching is gone. now lets beat them
sorry no offense but i could care less what it does to the conference as long as the schmucks get spanked.
that program is so arrogant for no reason im disgusted.
I agree with the above posts, lets just beat them on the field; and we will. Younger Duck fans don't realize how we use to pound them and we will again. They would have to beat us the next 15 in a row to even get even and that is not going to happen. Tradition and a top academic university always wins out in the long run. We know they cheated, in fact everyone knows they have been cheating, they were just better at it then most. We are still Dawgs and they are still Ducks!
Pooch do you remember going to Autzen and there were more Husky fans there than Ducks fans?
No reason? Come on. I'm not arrogant. But if I wanted to be surely I could think of a few reasons. You're taking this a bit too seriously, mate.
I would argue the Ducks were worse at cheating than most. Handwritten notes to Lyles? Not one of Chip's brighter moments. And all for a player who never played a down for the Ducks.
In the opinion of some un-biased observers, Tosh is more shady than Chip ever was, and before/after the whole Seastrunk situation (which seemed to be an isolated case) Oregon has been squeaky clean. Careful not to throw stones in a glass house.
All that said, I'm glad Helfrich is now the HC. I prefer his personality to Chip's as he seems like a genuinely kind, humble person. Hopefully he's just as good of a football coach (which is unlikely, if only because there are so few truly "special" coaches out there).
Ruthy, I've been going to Oregon UW games for 30 years, UW has never been close to having more fans than Duck fans at Autzen, not even in the Ducks darkest days. Ruth, you're a site mod now, might want to drop the cheerleader role.

As to your point about tradition winning out, I've had a lot of conversations on this topic with a good friend from Seattle (huge Husky fan). We both agree that Oregon's dominance will continue as long as Mariota is around. After that, it depends on Oregon's ability to recruit and how good of a coach Helfrich is. We'll see.
History says you're right, but Oregon is in a unique position nationally. Because of their reputation among the nation's elite HS players, and the number of future NFL players on their roster, the Ducks have a shot to continue recruiting at a relatively high level. If they can continue to win for another 5-10 years, that would create enough "tradition", IMO, to be on equal footing with Washington re:tradition, at least in the minds of future players and such. Eugene will never be Seattle, though.
Lol of course you do. If they contradict what Justin said, I wouldn't buy into anything you heard, considering Justin has, you know, actual sources within the program.

It's only been a few days but this site is becoming one of my favorites very quickly.
Good points ...and actually a decent argument but the WINS imho need to be bigger than just 1 rose bowl and they need some titles nationally
A title would certainly help.
4 straight BCS bowls and 2 straight wins is a start.
RR...I remember being at a lot of Oregon games against the dawgs when the noise level from their fans far exceeded the Ducks, but never the numbers...time to take off the purple glasses me thinks
Give me a freaking break... In the BCS era, the Ducks have won 1 rose bowl, 2 fiesta bowls, been to 1 additional rose, and a national championship. That's 5 BCS bowl game appearances with a 3-2 record in the last 11 years.
