COMMIT NEWS: Kaleb McGary is a Dawg

Fife 4-star lineman, Kaleb McGary gave Realdawg.com the scoop today on his plans to attend Washington and play for the Huskies.

"The coaches were ecstatic", McGary said about revealing his decision, "I've been bombarded by coaches calling since the decision was made know, "There goes my phone again -- its ready to die", he laughed.

"It seemed like it was the best fit for me -- Wisconsin was great and had that college town feel but it was just too far way -- WSU had a college town feel but it wasn't surrounded by mountains, so in the end Washington was the clear choice."

McGary chose the Huskies over his top 3, which were Wisconsin and Washington State.

Right now he's joining a class that just keeps getting better and better and this is a major pick up for the Huskies in terms of their efforts to keep the top players in-state for a newly hired staff.

McGary didn't enter into this decision lightly -- he really took his time to consider all angles and wanted to make sure he would fit in with what Coach Petersen had brewing at UW. Before the Petersen staff was hired, McGary had an exceptional relationship with Tosh Lupoi -- so Pete Kwiatkowski, Jeff Choate, and Petersen himself had a lot of catching up to do.

Another thing that turned out to be a deal-breaker for McGary was that he wanted to major in some sort of animal husbandry or wildlife career, "UW had the wildlife conservation", he said.

McGary loved his recruiting trips and is very glad now that he took the time to see what all there was to see so that he could make the best decision for him.

With his commitment the Huskies are now moving up in the rankings as he is a 4-star prospect.

The Huskies want to give McGary the opportunity to go either/or on the line, "Coach Petersen sees me as a left tackle but they want to let me try defense too", he said.
